I changed to my fourth Adikt stylus yesterday and was amazed once again by the difference it makes. The two last styluses I have changed after 21 and 17 months respectively which for me means less than 200 hours. I don’t know what burdens most – age or playing time, but towards the end of the life s...

Kikkin in AV-set up?
I would be grateful for some advice on the following topic: I have a 5.1 set up with a Unidisk SC, but I also have a Kikkin which I of course prefer to use when listening to my LP12. This means that I have to move back and forth the signal cables to the front speakers between the SC and Kikkin and c...

Yuin PK3 ear buds. I bought them from head-direct.com and paid USD 49 including delivery on my front door in Norway. Even straight out of the box it was easy to hear that the 420 had potential. That was not the case for the PK3s. They sounded just as boring as they looked. Four days of tough and co...

It works. I have been using the principle for more than 25 years. Lift off the record with the felt mat stuck to it, give it a couple of "shots" and the felt mat will fall around your hand. In my experience the Zeepa gun (double "barrel") works more effectively than the Zerostat, but I have no idea ...

I have now had my "back grade" to ESS 224 for some weeks and I clearly find it better sounding than 331. In my opinion much of the benefit from the Dynamik upgrade was lost with the new firmware installed compared to the old. Only the ESS was replaced, but that has not caused any problems so far. I ...

I have now tried to follow your advice, Troll, and all other possibilities to press the 'select' button that I can imagine - but the speaker volume settings are still lost when I switch the SC off with the switch. All other settings (for instance 'raw') are saved. Strange. Thanks anyway! My retailer...

Since I did not get any feedback on this post, I decided to try the upgrade a couple of weeks ago - and regret it. I'm pretty convinced that I lost something. Maybe more HiFi, but less music. The new firmware I got was ESS 231, H8S 223 and MECH 03.04.02.00. I presume that it is the ESS that might af...

Unidisk SC and firmware
My retailer told me that Linn had released a new firmware for SC in January this year. Does anybody have experience with this version? Something to switch to? My current version must be approximately 2 years old

Blue Ray players
Any recommendations for good Blue Ray players? Panasonic DMP-BD80 seems to be a candidate according to tests, but has anybody listened to it? Does it have sufficient tune?

Thanks to Linnofil for recommending the K420P! I have used Grado SR60 for a while. I find them a bit more clever, but not quite as much fun as my 420 - and definitely less portable. Being a bureaucrat of 50+, I have been on the lookout for something even more discrete to wear on the commuter train t...

Earlier I wrote: That implies that I need to reconnect the SC for playing DVD. It is unfortunately a significant hassle with tight connectors and a crammed connection panel on the SC. In addition you need to invert the phase on the amps (or on the speakers). It is amazing what practice can do to imp...

(0)007 has become Norwegian! Kikkin no 7 arrived last day of 2008 and I have been able to spend some wonderful hours with it. It plays relaxed and involving and brings forward details by the musicians that I have not noticed earlier from my SC pre. I have done a lot of singing the last couple of day...

Aktiv stereo card PCAS 131 or PCAS 190KH
I would like to tri-activate my Ekwal with a 5125. For this purpose I need the stereo card PCAS 131 which is the bass+treble for the following speakers: Ekwal, Trikan, 5120, Ninka and Keilidh. Alternatively I can use PCAS 190KH which is the stereo card bass+bass for Ninka/Keilidh. (I already have mo...
