Re: Karousel

there is a promotion with the Karousel and I wonder if its maybe economically wiser to choose the Sondek only deck instead of the Karousel only because I am thinking of buying a Krystal anyway Does someone know what the Sondek only package consists of? is motor included? is subchassis and armboard ...

Good to know Matt. How does it measure up to the Gigaport?
Sorry Brian,
I do not have one.
Maybe I buy the new eX if the first reports are good.

New GIGAPORT eX

Hi,

the price of the new ESI Gigaport eX is 169 Euro (VAT included) in Germany.
It seems to be available mid March.

Re: Absolute Bargains!

It's highly rated by the site that recommended Sopper's 2K DAC. I'm sceptical of all reviews, I worked for a company who gave junior journalists articles and brown envelopes - I believe that practice is widespread, Yes, I know this site and the measurements. They are a nice by-product. But anyway, ...

I would say that the analog output stage is the digital equivalent of the phono stage in a vinyl system.
This is a dead-on analogy!
The pure DAC is like the cartridge and after the analog output/phono stage both the DAC/vinyl signals have about the same volume level.

Hi Vlado,

I just discovered that I asked jajo about the 3678. His answer is on page two of this thread.

Maybe you can find a pair of 3677s on eBay?

All the best

Hi Matt, Thank you for your answer. I'm glad that you are happy with your 3677. They are not in production anymore ... that's why I ask for eventually other model ... with the same "blood line", theater / cinema = high efficiency ..... 4312 are studio monitors, and are, as you say, completely diffe...

Re: Karousel

I wonder what is different about the Karosel vs Cirkus that now makes it non compatible with third party subchassis or is it Linn just protecting themselves from lawsuits. The bigger diameter of the Karousel may interfere with some Valhalla type motor controllers. With Valhalla you have up to 400V ...

Re: Karousel

I would have to hear that one. In my experience it seems there is a matching issue with the bearing and subchassis. I thought the Cirkus needed a better subchassis than the original stock steel it was originally supplied with. I’m more curious how the Karosel/Keel fits into the hierarchy vs the Cir...

Wonder how the bearing will affect the hierarchy when considering upgrading.
I am sure Karousel in a Majik sub chassis will outperform Cirkus in a Keel.

you might be right but if that is the case the lands of the Keel would provide even less surface to cope with the pressure
Yes, the interface of the Keel is certainly superior to that of the Kore or Majik.

More information from the press release:

That vital union between the platter, spindle, bearing and sub-chassis is now the strongest we’ve ever achieved.
Even with the Karousel the union between bearing and sub chassis is a weak spot because the sub chassis is only 1,5mm thick.

Re: Karousel

I expect those pits are higher than the lands of the Keel so you place the pits besides the lands and actually achieve the same. AFAIK, the pits of the Karousel go into the holes of the sub chassis otherwise the aluminium sub chassis would get distorted by the much harder stainless steel pits of th...

I've only heard Ovators at shows but was never particularly impressed. MusicLover did a major search for a top line speaker after selling his Komris several years back. What WiFi components do you use to connect your renderer to your music source? Have you compared this with a wired GS108T? Spannko, it is a very minimalist set-up. The ISP(150Mbps) cable wifi modem is in the utility room in the basement. A MBP from mid 2010 (which will be replaced this year) is on ...

Regarding the EtherRegen there are very serious reports that all devices connected to the A-side sounds best.
Going across the ER from A to B or B to A seems to reduce the performance.

Connecting a USB-C to USB-C dedicated cable increases power charging and data transfer speed into a USB-C computer. It is a LOT faster, I have done it. Higher speed is not better for audio. The opposite is not necessarily true either, but more likely. On the HAKAIs that I built, the USB 2 ports sound better than USB 3. And the lower the clock frequency of the motherboard, the more musical it sounded. This is indeed a very hot topic. Emile from Tai...
