The overall results of the clips indicate that the Intel DN2800MT sounds best, the Gigabyte Hakai boards still sound good.
Brian,
sorry, but the Intel is the first one and most voted for the second one which is Hakai or do I miss something?
Thanks

I preferred the first clips, they seem to be more involving.
Is the processing of these via a device with a higher power CPU?

I'd love to hear it!
I listened to it at X-Fi Show this autumn, a few rooms away from Fredriks room, very impressive.

Re: Southern Hemisphere Typical Build - Can We Learn Anything?

The Fredrik of the Southern hemisphere builds seems to be Mark Jenkins, owner of Antipodes Audio. I found it interesting how similar yet how different the builds were. They tend to go for less powerful motherboards than we do. They favour cables that are presumably local to them. In some aspects th...

At the end it is referring to the EtherRegen too.

Re: Ethernet regenerator

Sorry, no. After my initial listening comparisons, I've removed the old switch completely (a Netgear GS108 by the way), so comparisons are no longer straightforward. According to the thread on AS there seems to be an improvement with the ER as a replacement for other switches like in your case but ...

Ethernet regenerator

For me, it does the same thing as Fredrik’s amps, making the music easier to understand and follow what the musicians are doing and how they are interacting with each other. Taking it out, the music becomes harder to follow, and seems slightly out of focus. Thank you for sharing your impressions. W...

Ethernet regenerator

Completely coincidental, but after posting that link in an earlier post to an explanation of how/why that USB regenerator device offers audible improvements in a USB interface, I came across an announcement from the same company, Uptone Audio, to say that they're working on an Ethernet regenerator,...

Re: JBL 3677

The Ultratouch denim insulation worked excellent, very easy to do. Just used some wood glue to hold it in place, didn't stuff overly tight, covered everything that was previously covered plus the bracing directly above woofer but not on the tweeter side of that. How thick is the UDI R13 and is it a...

The Hemiola will be sold through dealers, and you should start being able to hear one sometime in the new year.
Please, keep us updated.

Re: JBL 3677

My 3677s are stock with one exception:

Between the terminal where the crossover is mounted to and the speaker box is a thin piece of rectangular cardboard.
I removed this and found them a little bit more tuneful.

Re: SACD DSD extraction

I listened to very musical sounding CDs. However imo, the best medium to capture music in all its glory are pure analog tape recorders with 15ips or 30ips. The alternative and digital gold standard at the moment is DSD256. Linn Records for example do record classical music like Haydn Nelson Mass in ...

Re: SACD DSD extraction

Yes, SACD as a format is only good for Sony, but afaik DSD per se is free of royalty fees. But I am not sure if it makes sense to compare SACD and CD layers of hybride SACDs. SACD is based on DSD64 and this format is obsolete in my view in 2019. The advantages of DSD shine with higher rates like DSD...

Re: SACD DSD extraction

I know many think DSD is a bad idea but I would like to better understand why and if it might give more musicality than PCM. I do not think DSD is a bad idea....... You can also convert files or music from Qobuz etc. with software like Audirvana to DSD128 and stream it via UPnP to your Katalyst. In...
