Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I did try to compare last night but C was taking forever to upload. Needn't have worried though as I preferred A and B over C like everyone else.

A is more my type of sound, less impressive than B but just made more sense and was more enjoyable.

Re: Linn Klimax Solo 800

I enjoyed active 360s the other week, especially via the Klimax LP12. They do a good job of disappearing.

Doubt I'll get to hear the Solo 800s as my dealer is not getting a dem pair.

Yes, nice summary of your progress.

Wondering what you will think with a fresh Kandid fitted.

015/1 mesh 015/2 mesh 015/3 curved inward bars 015/5 curved inward bars All the above used in Keilidh. I tried 1, 2 and 3, marginally preferred the 2. Not sure what became of 015/4 but it never seems to have appeared in a product. Ninka, Katan, Ekwal and Espek used the 038 tweeter which is compatib...

Cool!

Maybe try quite a lot closer in that case with about 150cm between tweeters.

Re: Pete's System

I've had a look at the mic positions and they are not too dissimilar. I now remember to avoid covering them with my fingers so I'm not sure what the cause is. It does make the comparisons harder (for me anyway). Fair enough. I was trying out stereo on an iPhone 15 so perhaps it's caused by somethin...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I hear too much sound off the wall in 2856.

I'd probably go with 2857 but hard to tell with that track.

Maybe try closer together too, although I appreciate you have the cabinet preventing them going much closer to one another.

Re: Pete's System

I prefer 'without' too. I suppose you could try re-positioning the speakers with the room treatment, but personally I couldn't be bothered based on these clips - not enough potential to get me interested. Agree with beck that you need to get the speakers optimised in their current position first. Ca...

What turntable are you using it with?

Very attractive systems and rooms.

Glad you're enjoying the Lejonklou equipment. I must have a listen to the Jern's sometime.

Re: Tony Tune-age System

I'm glad Tony. Entity 1.1 to 1.2 is an inconspicuous update with a big impact. And the Sagatun upgrade is a real revelation. I agree. I wasn't entirely sold on the Entity until hearing the 1.2 version (kindly loaned by a forum member). Bought a Slipsik 8 in the end but that was no reflection on the...

Re: How we define "good sound"

Can't recall a concert that sounded so bad I couldn't enjoy the music. Most sound pretty rough. Been to some half-decent indoor ones though.

Linn Keilidh Versions

I was gonna get my passive Keilidhs serviced with new Alcaps, or possibly Solens. They are an early pair fitted with the final version of tweeter (SPKR 015/3), or maybe the seller said it was the Ninka tweeter. Anyway, before spending out on that work, I wondered if I should first buy the final Keil...

Trying to factor in the bass more then probably not clip 2. I thought 3-5 sounded a bit speeded up but now they seem better. I dunno. Maybe clip four. I'm out of my league really.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

That was very difficult and I have low confidence in my choice - i.e., I could pick another one tomorrow and another the day after. I can't blame the gear either cos I'm on the MAC and using my most musical headphones (the old K24P). I did always struggle with the JBLs though, except that one clip y...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I find Track B (112) easier to follow but they both show off the strengths of a Lejonklou system very well.
