Re: Linn silver interconnect

Good point Spannko, a lazy, dry, or cold solder job and all bets are off ...I'm currently collecting these specific vintage 5 pin to RCA interconnects from Chord Co. because their magic for Analog in my system. I'm told by a friend of mine that these specific interconnects are just pre-Lavender with...

Re: Linn silver interconnect

The first time I saw the Linn Silver interconnects was packaged along with a CD12, generally speaking if your connecting something digital to a Pre it's worth trying and I personally wouldn't use Silvers from Pre to Amp if I had an Analog source in the system. If the system is Digital with no Analog...

Re: Source First theory and how far to take it?

I also find that my system sounds best after it been raining for a little while, maybe it has to do with water saturating the soil and helping with grounding. Then the next evening after a sunny and dry day/dryer soil I'm not getting into the music/system quite the same. ...I can recall a few weeks ...

Re: Source First theory and how far to take it?

Thanks for sharing Hermann and glad I’m not alone. In answer to your question, the two modes reflect times when one type of musical presentation is making a lot more sense over the other, either early-Linn/Naim or later-Linn/Lejonklou. But I need to add a standard mode where both make good sense, w...

Re: Source First theory and how far to take it?

Wanted to add to an existing source first thread but shocked how quickly the time has passed since the last post on this thread, back in 2011 ! OMG! Anyway, today's observation (a few years later) is that I've noticed on many occasions over several years that my brain can flip between the type of s...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Definitely A3 over B3, much more haunting & engaging, with B3 sounding a bit forced by comparison.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Listening to A & B again just now -this time I started fresh with "B" first- and I find myself just getting bogged down in B's boringly plodding along, thinking when is this song going to start? Whereas by comparison with "A" the song pulls you in immediately on the first note & hits more of the rig...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Went back and forth with A & C and I feel A is still the overall better performance. In other words with A I find myself simply enjoying the song as a whole, and with C I'm continually being directed to different individual characteristics of the song.

Hi, Europe/Austria, think the delivery costs will be too expensive. Thanks anyway.
Your welcome, but Yea, that's my thinking too, I'm sure someone more local to you will chime in.

Re: Linn Keilidh Versions

I recall at the shop many many years ago we replaced both Keltik & Keilidh tweeters with the newer ones that Linn sent us, after I installed/played them into our Aktiv Keltik demo system we all looked at each other and asked what we heard and we all shrugged our shoulders, perhaps they slowly burned...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I just went thru all five, and as others mention 5 is a lot to compare. But I settled on No. 3, pretty quickly actually, it just shined in that way I like a little more than the others, the band was really on the mark. ...I liked No. 2 the least FWIW.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

(B) just sounds hot & overdriven now, so I pick (A), but saying that these both sound more out of tune than clip (A) did in your first A/B. So I can only assume that burning things in only made things worse.

The immediate difference for me is that Track "A" is more in tune -musicians are more on the mark- than Track "B" is.

Agree, both sound very nice and tuneful, but I'd have to give the nod to the Kans with their ability to greater get the listener more involved emotionally.

(A) for me too, (B) grabs you for a second thinking it's clearer sounding until you quickly realize that it's way out of tune by comparison to (A).

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

The long now discontinued -from the 90's- Target TT-1 was also a very good wall shelf, you can only get them used now, I once used one for many years under my LP12's. These days the Target name has been bought/acquired by some Canadian outfit and they make compromised junk IMO -very poor welds, heav...
