Thank you Fredrik, as ever, remarkably useful advice from yourself and the whole forum. As a conclusion from various postings, I'll do: Monophase Dedicated fuse box New earth (2ohm target) Three 20A fused circuits (not circuit breakers) Each fused circuit with three wall sockets (3 groups of 3, left...

Re: mains supply

Hi Anthony Thanks for the reply. If I've got it right, with 3-phase you have four wires; the three phases and the neutral. Between the neutral and any one of the phases you get 240v, but the voltage between the phases is 380v. But you'd only get this if your electrician decides to wire it up that wa...

Hi, thanks for the comments, it is really helpful. Put in a new earth that serves the hifi sockets only. Probably a good idea. I assume it will go together with the neutral at the same point as the other earths do. The new Earth is at a different part of the house from the existing earth, does it ne...

I saw the electrician today So this is what he recommends, and luckily it's not too expensive : Put in a new earth that serves the hifi sockets only. A dedicated spur from the main house supply that goes to a dedicated fuse box just behind the wall with the hifi. It has three fused circuits for the ...

Hi Charlie, I'd love to have a conclusion, but building projects take a long long time here. I'm meeting the electrician soon to talk through the plans and building should start in September, so I should have some results towards the end of the year. It's going to be very hard to compare wiring othe...

.23 is totally one of the best firmwares. Going to use it from now on. Did upgrade my DS last night to .23 and, WOW!!! It has improved a lot! Me too, I went from Bute 09 (which I used just because it worked with Songbook, even if 06 was better), to Cara 23. What a difference. I was contin...

Thanks for the suggestions, it sounds like the current soldering is about right, maybe 2x2 round the outside of the plug could also work if I feel ambitious about re-soldering. I'm surprised no-one has built a special plug for this, I could imagine a 'T' shape where the top of the T could have two, ...

quad wire soldering

Hi, I have a pair of 350p's quad wired, i.e 2 complete runs of k400's going to each speaker. They are connected to a pair of solos. At the Solo end it means that each 4mm plug needs to have four strands of wire connected into it. This is one big soldering challenge that my dealer did by twisting the...

Hi bbyte, How long does it take to get the Sunoko? Have you got it yet? Are you happy? I called a few dealers and got feedback similar to the above, that the Sunoko was their best now, better than the reference. One dealer who did IsoBlue and Quadraspire prefered the QS Sunoko. The dealer I tried ho...

Hi, I'm looking to replace my equipment rack and I was hoping someone might be able to steer me in the right direction. I've also had a bit of time to listen today and I agree with Paolo and Music Lover that 06 is more musical than 09. I noticed almost immediately when I 'upgraded', but I didn't have much time to listen and thought maybe I wasn't hearing right, but going back only confirms it for me, I'll stay with 0...

I found the solution to my own question, if anyone's interested... unzip the files to a known location, right click on the DS in Config and select 'reflash', then look for the file KlimaxDsP2_rmp_rr.xml in the bin directory where the files were unpacked and off it goes.

How do you go back to a previous version? I have 1.2-0.9 and I'd like to go back to 1.2-0.6 on my KDS. I've downloaded the zip file from Linn, but I'm not sure where to put it or the contained files so they are picked up by LinnConfig 1.3-0.5 which only shows the original and latest versions in the ...

Hi, I'm still using my optical isolators and I've found I can't improve on them with a direct connection. Where you plug their power block into the mains is important, plugging them into the mains strip used for the hi-fi is clearly the worst and kills the sound. As far away as possible is good! I a...

Yes, this is how I connect my KDS to a Vista PC running twonky. I tried it, it took a bit of fiddling as it was hard to conf...

I agree that an optical interface would be a good step. But, at the same time I'm not sure it will solve all the problems as I'm finding differences come from at least two sources. I've seen differences associated with the connection (Ethernet cable, optical etc.), but also where the equipment is pl...

I have the Solo's already, and I'm looking around at speakers. For the 350's, I'm considering 350 Passive, they still require power for the active bass.

Optimal House Wiring

Hi, I’ve got the real luxury of building a new room in my house, and it’s going to be where my hifi sits! It’s not quite a music room, but almost… the point of view depends who you talk to ;-) It’s going to be about 60m2 so probably 6x10m. I’ll be running a Klimax DS, Kontrol, Solo’s and potentially...

Hi Steve, Sorry for the slight delay in responding. Your first question about why I moved away from Shahinian is a bit difficult to answer... I guess after 8 years I was in upgrade mood, and all the rest of my kit was Linn, and I bought ex-dem. It's not so easy to listen when you're buying like that...

Thanks! I agree that it's a theory at the moment. This is the rational to the theory... if anyone can let me know where the faults are in my argument I'd be happy. Hi Paolo, I've been thinking about the problem and solution for a bit, and since we seemed to agree it was noise/RFI of some sort, after a bit of research on networks I had high hopes for this approach as nothing could go down an optical fibre except the real data signal. I've not got enough equipme...

Hi, I ‘m feeling like I’ve had a bit of a breakthrough on the NAS/Network issue! I’ve managed to completely isolate the DS so the network/NAS configuration makes absolutely no difference at all, and I get my best sounding results yet. I got hold of 2 Ethernet to fibre media converters and 10m of fib...
