Re: Källa firmware upgrade - postponed

I don't know much about coding firmware but hear me out. Would it be possible to split the different features into separate parts? We would get a menu when starting up Källa and chose a mode with the feature we need. It would then run a smaller amount of code compared to the whole package and possib...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

B got a nice energy and drive to it while D appear to have more feeling.
I can't pick a winner when listening to the clips but both are really good.

While sounding nice, there's something off with the drive and timing on N.

Taken as a whole I prefer "I" on both and but there's something about the singing on J1 that I like. It stands out and keeps my attention.

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp

Remember: Even if it prioritize sound quality before power it can still play louder than most amps before distorting. Myself I'm using a Boazu + Totem Dreamcatcher combo and can't be happier. It's lots of fun and got drive even at very low volumes. Won't it be easier to make a list of the few speake...

Re: Linn Kan 1 Setup

Yep. It's the original version played on a really good system that isn't rushing things. ------- I got the Manufactured in Germany CD of the 1988 Tracy Chapman album. Does anyone know how good it is compared to the vinyls? It's a full digital recording but these tend to sound the best on vinyl for w...

Re: Linn Kan 1 Setup

"After" is so much better that it almost makes me think the setup of the speaker is more important than the speaker itself.
How a well setup pretty good speaker could musically outperform a world class one that's not.

Re: Setting up loudspeakers for the best tune

You found the right spot for the speakers! ..or it's just a very good beer ;)
My own experience with placing speakers for best tune is that with a good source and amp it's not that hard.
However. With a not so good source it's a huge struggle.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

tpetsch - Remember that YYY got my top vote for sounding the best. Sure, I did remark on the bass but it's just that one song played on an apparently modified LP12. Outside of that I've never encountered any LP12 bass issues.
I think tokenbrit is right. This needs its own thread + clips.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Hi tpetsch and thanks for the in depth reply. I don't think many of us here is loyal to a fault. If something betters Linn we buy it. I used to own Linn amps and are now using Lejonklou. Most of us here is also ready to look behind the sound and wouldn't care less if something sounds fat or lean as ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

tpetsch - Yes. The YYY sounds a bit fat but I can't agree it sounds artificial. If something artificial was added it wouldn't be able to present the song with that much emotion. Right? I must admit the Technics was shockingly good at rocking out on that earlier track. On this one the singer sounded ...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Here goes. The bass was a bit boomy but I still like YYY the most.
Then XXX on second place - Good flow and the most live sounding one but less emotion than YYY.
Last. ZZZ seemed like holding it back, so it didn't do much for me.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I like parts of both. The clean precise tone of A1 and the free flowing quality of B2.
I'm hearing more promise in A1 though. Maybe you can unlock some extra performance by tweaking the setup?

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I should be sleeping but since I'm here I vote for A1
Edit: Late night listening at low volume tripped me up. I think because A1 was recorded a bit louder. Listening again today it's obvious B2 is better.

X is best.
Y The bass playing isn't well integrated with the rest of the music.
Z sounds good but this time the bass is lagging behind a tiny bit.

Still you have perhaps the best CD playback in the world and I'm quite jealous ;)

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a Källa yet but slowly prepering for when I do. The router I'm using now is a TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750. Also have a bunch of more or less old routers lying around like the Netgear RP614 v4, D-Link N300 Ver. A2, D-Link DI-604 Ver. D1 and an ASUS RT-N56U. The Microco...

Re: Recommended network components

In preparation for Källa here's a few things I'm wondering. I'm taking it's the standard "normal" iPhone 11 and not the Pro or Pro Max model that sounds the best. Some more questions. Do the amount of built in memory in the iPhone matter for the sound? There's 64GB and 128GB etc. And is there any be...
