Re: Pair of Aktiv Linn 2250 amps (U.S./Canada)
I run the amps with Katans, which is what I bought the cards for. I assumed they would work with Ninkas, but I’m sure you’re right.

Pair of Aktiv Linn 2250 amps (U.S./Canada)
I am selling a pair of black Linn 2250 stereo power amps that have aktiv cards installed. Asking US$1600 for the pair (which i have also listed on Audiogon). This is a great, plug-and-play opportunity to run a Linn aktiv system if you have Ninkas or Katans. The amps are in great condition and work b...

Re: Can I connect Linn Afekt (sub) to Rega Brio-R (integrated)?
Thanks to all for the responses. Looks like something like a REL connected to speaker outputs with stacking bananas is the only practical answer.

Can I connect Linn Afekt (sub) to Rega Brio-R (integrated)?
Hi, I am lending my old Linn Afekt "bass reinforcement speaker" to a friend who owns a Rega Brio-R integrated amplifier, but am not sure if it's possible for these pieces to be used together. If it is, I am not sure how best to connect them. Any suggestions much appreciated. The Brio has several lin...

Phono Stage in Majik Kontrol
I've been using a Rega P3-24 with a Goldring 1042 MM cartridge through a Linn Majik Kontrol preamp. Curious if anyone has any thoughts about how good the phono stage in the Linn unit is. It all sounds fine to me, but I have an opportunity to acquire (without an audition) a Rega Fono MM phono stage f...

Pre-2005 Majik-I Integrated Amp HT Bypass?
Does anyone know if the old Majik-I has a “home theater bypass” capability, ie a line level input that bypasses the volume control of the amp? I see that it has a tape in as well as a tape out - would that work? Thanks!

Re: Vintage Linn Majik Integrated Amp
I don't believe it has speaker level inputs.
I have used a subwoofer before with Linn bookshelf speakers and found that, if used judiciously, it can help to flesh out lower frequencies without doing any harm. Would the tape outs be the right place on the Majik to hook up the subwoofer?
Thanks.

Re: Vintage Linn Majik Integrated Amp
Thanks for all of the interesting responses. It turns out that I also have an old Linn Afekt subwoofer. Any idea how best to connect this to the old Majik? Presumably I would connect the Majik to the line inputs of the sub, but it's not clear to me what to use as the out from the Majik - tape outs, ...

Vintage Linn Majik Integrated Amp
I am thinking of equipping a spare room with a small audio system to make use of my old Linn Tukan speakers (or possibly Majik 109s) and a spare turntable. I dug out of storage a Linn Majik integrated amp from circa 1999 (in the old LK box style) that I have not used in many years, and wondered if a...

Re: How good are phono stages in vintage Linn preamps?
Thanks for the helpful responses. I have both the Kairn and the Majik Kontrol, and with my Goldring 1042 MM cart I don't think I can hear much of a difference. To my ears the MK is perhaps a little cleaner/more detailed, but it's a close call.

How good are phono stages in vintage Linn preamps?
Does anyone have a view on how good the phono stages are in older preamps like the Linn Kairn and Linn Majik Kontrol? I would be interested in understanding what sort of investment one would need to make to improve on them. For example, are they comparable to good budget phono stages like the Rega F...

Linn Ikemi still going strong
I have had and enjoyed my Linn Ikemi CDP for years. I recently had an opportunity to try a Rega Apollo-R (from around 2017) paired with an external Rega DAC. Both Rega components have received excellent reviews, and I was curious to hear if the more modern Rega equipment would sound better than the ...

Connecting Preamp to Linn Majik 4100 Power amp
Apologies for the dumb question, but does anyone know how I connect a preamp to a Linn Majik 4100? Specifically, what do the preamp's L and R lineout jacks connect to on the 4100? It has four channels, each with an "in" and an "out." I can't figure out what matches up to what, which channels to use,...

Re: Majik 109 Modification
No great reason other than fear of making a mess of the cabinet and the fact that spikes seem a bit precarious in my house - kids, pets, people with vacuum cleaners knocking things around. I have tried the spikes, blue tac and the silicone dots, and to be honest I am not sure I noticed a difference ...

Re: Majik 109 Modification
Continuing to find this modification very satisfying. I am not able to A/B, but based on memory, this is a substantial upgrade that has temporarily stopped me from seeking new speakers. (I run these speakers with a Naim Uniti Nova and had been advised that the 109s, while good for what they are, wer...

Re: Majik 109 Modification
Just fired up the speakers after this mod, and although I gather that they may take some time to settle in, the improvement seems reasonably clear already. It’s most noticeable in the lower frequencies (there’s more there), but it feels like the overall presentation has more “heft” or weight. One th...

Well, that worked - thanks. I forgot how good those Tukans are. They really punch above their weight. They don’t quite have the relaxed smoothness of the 109s, but they are enjoyable.

Linn Tukan - Single Wire W/O Link Plates?
I recently dug my old Linn Tukans out of retirement while my 109s are in the shop, and I noticed that I no longer have the linking plates that came with them. I need to single wire the Tukans, and wondered if there is a simple way to do this without the Linn linking plates that connect the respectiv...

Thanks for the feedback. The one I was looking at appears to be the 5.1/no headphone stage version, although it had the Dynamik supply. I may take a pass.
