Re: Karousel

Well, I think I have the Karousel tomorrow. My dealer sent it out yesterday. I'll have it installed in the next few days, probably Monday. The only question is the torque, which according to Peter @Cymbiosis should be 4Nm for the Keel. Also the question how far the Sturtevant tool can be used.

Re: Briks missing bass

Hi Defender, no, your memory's not fooling you. I still stand by the statement. The system sounds incredibly musical, but sometimes it makes me thinking. As an example "Khmer" is not mentioned in vain, because there is a bass to be heard which is incredibly deep. Another one would be "Paul Motian Tr...

Re: Briks missing bass

Thanks for your time to respond and the experience with the S600. The demo will not take place, as the risk of a bad buy seems too great to me. Therefore nothing has to be transported to the dealer ;-) @Defender Your observation is not unfounded. The podium was only a very short time in consideratio...

Re: Briks missing bass

Well Beck ;-) Of course, this is somehow also my reasoning. But both pairs of Ovator S600 have been on offer for years and are therefore almost not for sale. With both providers I have been on the phone for a long time and yes, they are good offers. In addition, the dealer is honest and makes it cle...

Re: Briks missing bass

My problem is really that I have three good offers, one isobarik with external crossover and two S600 and all for a quite reasonable price. Demo at home is excluded. Only the two S600 outside is possible with much effort.

The old analog sound has the ability to draw me into the music almost participating whereas digital makes me more of an observer listening to nice sounds.
I couldn't have put it better myself. I see the two worlds rather a coexistence than that one have to be vehemently preferred/defended.

@Ron The Moon Mhh... since English is not my nativ language, I often use DeepL for translation. Is your last comment about me meant as a joke? Marcel's café/bar?? Re: Torqued equipment...

I now own three used tools. To test how far the values match, I turned screws in wood, e.g. with 3N and marked the screw head and wood carefully. The other two tools then adjusted to the same value and tried to loosen on one side, then tighten again. Two of the tools are actually quite identical, th...

Re: Briks missing bass

Thank you very much for your thoughts and hints. Unfortunately I see no other possibility in this room than to use only the current space. Opposite in the area of the seating group it is unfortunately not possible because of the floor. The podest hides over the whole length and about 1.5m wide a big...

Re: Briks missing bass

Actually, you're right, with the outer two it should sound better somehow, if source and pre are connected there. But it's not, though. Radikal/Supercap is plugged in first on one side, Preamp on the other side, Poweramp following in the middle. Even if these swapped, poweramps on the outside, the o...

Re: Briks missing bass

I have pretty much the same problem in my room. Almost identical size and listening position. I have some huge dips in my listening position right there where you would like kick drums etc. give some physical effect. Does the bass missing everywhere in the room? That describes it pretty well. There...

Re: Briks missing bass

Thank you very much for your ideas and suggestions. I know about Linn's recommendation for a solid wall behind the older speakers. I'm not sure if this is right in every case, because in the former big room the briks were about 1m away from the back wall. However, that could really be the problem. @...

Briks missing bass

I would like to use the knowledge of the community to possibly solve a problem with my briks. Components are: LP12 Klimax, Superline, Supercap, Naim 552, ECS Prototype Amps (I preferred them to the NAP500), Isobariks. Everything is on Mana Racks and Soundstages. Something about the history: I've kno...

Unfortunately I cannot go to Hamburg for health reasons. I am very sorry because I am of course curious about the setup.

But maybe a trip to Amsterdam to Hexagon Audio in the near future. If there is a retail store ...

Wish you all good luck and of course good music.

Hello Marco,
thank you for the kind words. Looking forward to see you & Fredrik.
My expectation is of course quite high when all that I've read counts.

Too much music I would like to hear there but don't like to carry vinyl around. Will see..

Re: Tonearm for LP12

If you are considering the Naim Aro, the EKOS II should not be missing. A few years ago I had both arms and two identical LP12s. Equipped with prefix, Hi & supercap, Armagedon and Norton PS, they played Troika, Karma and Arkiv in both arms. The decision was easy for me, the Ekos was better in the lo...

Isobarik Torques?

Thank you Ron for sharing your experiences. First of all, I have a very late pair of speakers with original drivers. By the way, since 1997, bought them used but they where new! The HT are the Linn with two circles. It is correct that seems to be a longer process. The difference was clearly heard at...

Re: Which is the optimal length of speaker wires?

Hi Fredrik, As long as the music plays, an answer is not unconditional immediately and urgently necessary. A solution is found. I've been experimenting with cables for over 40 years. There were really very experimental constructions, such as the shielding of antenna cable (back in the 70th) for loud...

Re: Entity MC

Thanks Fredrik As far as I remember, Naim's prefix "K" already had 560 ohms/470pF and has been obvious optimized for Linn Carts Found this for Naim Prefix: 'S': 100uV / 470ohms 'K': 100uV / 560ohms 'E': 400uV / 400ohm Anyway, the prefix played with some Troikas, Karmas, Arkivs, and the Kandid. I read the information with great interest, even though I own a Naim Superline and do not intend to trade it. But from time to time I put music systems together for others. Well, I am considering switching from used Naim components to Frederiks products in this regard. I am surprised by the resistan...
