Re: Wife issue ...
Sad to say, I have to sell or trade in a wonderful, active 242 MK1 system powered by a latest spec Akurate 4200/D and a Majik 6100/D. Front end is a maxed out LP12 and a Klimax Kontrol that I intend to keep. Plan is to go two-channel with a loudspeaker approved by my wife ... I want to stick to wit...

Dedication to the task! I love it. It does sound pretty cool, but I hope you have a third length of wire as the system you mention almost guarantees you will end up with a wire .5m shorter than optimum. True! I’m following Roy Gandhi’s recommendation of not cutting the ring and just looping the cab...

Thank you. I see..Ok well I'll just have a go and see what happens. - I have an existing Ring at the position (may proof best) - With limited funds I'm thinking this https://mcru.co.uk/product/mcru-audiophile-4mm-mains-cable-per-metre/?v=79cba1185463 - and this https://mcru.co.uk/product/ms-hd-power...

Re: Optimal House Wiring
Great info, my Sparky's jnr is popping in tomorrow to discuss my requirements.. .. I'm struggling to get my head around all this so hope I manage to relay the priority, namely getting any earth loop impedance to a minimum plus MDSM plus M6100 being on a dedicated line (whether that turns out to be a...

Re: Amplification options
Hi Peter If you do decide to take a trip to Carlisle then Peter Tyson are at a new site, very nice store everything under one roof with a couple of demo rooms. I hadn't realised they'd moved. A bit out of the way now from the town centre when walking though. Yeah, probably best to do after the city...

Re: Amplification options
I couldn't justify the Sagatun/Tundra option on price, so if I did make a move it would have to be the Boazu. I'm sure I would find the speakers inadequate anyway with the former, and be tempted to spend even more. I shall have to take a listen when I'm nearby somewhere that stocks them, which woul...

Friwo MPP15 - what's fresh
I see this being the goto PSU (I've just ordered a Netgear GS105) for quite some years now.
Anybody found something better?

Re: Optimal House Wiring
I will be wall mounting a TV just above, so relocating the nearby existing ring mains to that position so that bit I have covered.
So much to think about, need to look at network cabling next...

Re: Optimal House Wiring
Ok thank you.
There are companies that sell dedicated hifi mains cable off the reel, presumably that is directional, but even if it is not I could do 2 runs, one each way then keep whichever sounds best I guess?
Hmmm I'm now in termoil.

Would it be fair to say then that it's all experimental, ie there is no general rule as to which wiring topology is best and whether adding a new fuseboard a plus or minus..

Re: Optimal House Wiring
Ok so I have an electrician coming around next week. My current (no pun intended) thinking is to request a radial circuit.. Fusebox is down stairs, planning to wall mount my hifi so distance to box 1 (lowest - thinking M6100) would be 6 metres, then up to box 2 (thinking M DSM) would be a further 25...

Majik 6100 Card Allocation
Jist secured. It was 5yr's old at Aug 2012 and used to drive Majik 109's. I understand it has had very light use due to the owner having multiple dwellings that they spent their time between. But my question is concerning allocation of the M140 cards to slots. I believe it good practice to user for ...

How did you get on? I took the simply route and bought the K400 already cut by the former owner (very tidy job he must have put it through a pasta maker or something like that haha)

Re: Which is the optimal length of speaker wires?
Yeah I'm chuffed, hopefully the 2 X 5m long enough to cut down to that magic 2.48m to connect all inputs on the Majik 140 my dealer has reserved for me. Next challenge find a M6100 and M DSM (challenge as in availability v price 2nd hand). Coming back to the sleeving, yeah your probably right but I'...

Re: Optimal House Wiring
Ok so I read through all this thread and yet still find myself (new to hi-fi) wondering what if anything I should have my electrician do for me. In in the Uk, just off the City Centre, End terrace, upstairs bedroom starting refurb in Feb. This will also be my first entry in to having a (hopefully) r...

Re: Adventures in Hi-fi, it's electrifying
Wow.
I'm confused haha.
I mean really I've read here about power leads (and that blew my mind) but then to be plugging it all in to an extension block(adding more boxes in) and a super cheap one at that is simply just witchcraft to me.
Thanks for the input.
