Below: JBL 3677 with Mundorf AMT Supertweeter.
Re: JBL 3677
I connected the AMT with a simple crossover at the connection point. I don't want to say that I have a completely new speaker, because I don't (because the frequency response was not bent, as in my experiments with the Push over 10khz using an RME preamp, which took away the identity of the JBL. No,...
Re: JBL 3677
Of course, I also measured the frequency response of the speakers in my living room. There were some major peaks above 80hz, which I was able to filter out with my RME using DSP. This gave the loudspeaker more authority and contour in the bass. I knew that the JBL 3677s have a drop of -10db from 10k...
Re: JBL 3677
In the meantime, I have upgraded my amplifier. That was another big step forward. I have had extensive listening sessions with these speakers. I would like to make one more point here: As Fredrik Lejonklou has pointed out, these speakers have a "realness" that makes you feel as though you're listeni...
Re: JBL 3677
What are your thoughts on completely rebuilding the crossover with high-quality components? My thoughts are these: You will fail miserably. I tried to improve the filters, certain that it would not be particularly difficult. It was the opposite. Every value is precisely where it should be. Every co...
Re: JBL 3677
AFAIK, ThomasOK and Music Lover made the complete wiring replacement. That's correct and I also moved the X-overs to an external box, placed on the Harmoni (Alu) Mimer Quite a bit better actually. The external box was a bigger step than the wiring imho, and the wiring was a good bit better than the...
Re: JBL 3677
Have you finished outsourcing the crossover to the box? What are your impressions, was there an improvement?
Re: JBL 3677
Here are a few more impressions: At the beginning I was "shocked" at how fine-drawing classical recordings, especially wood instruments, sounded. But even a large orchestra could be reproduced in a way that I had never experienced before. And we're talking about the first notes "straight out of the ...
Re: JBL 3677
fast forward: I got my JBL in August 2020. Perhaps a bit of background: I've always been interested in high-efficiency loudspeakers. Especially the look of a 38cm bass is something completely different and these professional speakers have a certain charm "no nonsence design". I came across this foru...

Re: JBL 3677
there were a few recordings of 3677 playing music. I checked the dropbox-link. It's not working anymore. Has someone new videomaterial or a new link? Thanks
Re: JBL 3677
After I had read a lot of stuff over the 3677, I think there must something be that makes this speaker so musical - I wont call it "magic". I will go for the 3677. Had a call with the dealer. They are sold out from the european stock. So the speaker must be shipped from the US. And it goes by ship. ...
Re: JBL 3677
Thanks for your interesting thoughts, ThomasOK. I need some advice: I have the chance to get a pair of 3677's for around 880 Dollars per piece. Price in Europe are slightly higher than in the US-Market. Should I go for the 3677 or maybe wait some time till there are some reviews of the new C211. But...
Re: JBL 3677
Hi there, Im also a huge fan of the 3677 and thanks to this thread I was pretty shure to buy a pair of the 3677. Now what confudes me about the C211 is: On the spec-sheet the Low-end Driver is listed with M115-8A. This driver is not epensive - you got two of them in the JBL RX225 for about 330 Euro ...
