once in a lifetime: design of a listening room
Dear forum members, I have a unique opportunity in getting a dedicated room for music and I want to make the most out of this once in a lifetime opportunity. Actually it will be a conservatory from quality PVC and Glass elements (hope my dream does not end here) with a brick wall behind the listener...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
Dear all, I am back after some time. With new questions. As you may find deeper inside this thread, I exchanged the C6100 active for Linn Ninkas for a Boazu and was extremely happy (with Majik DS, and stereo Afekt subwoofers). As it always happens with me, when it works well, I want to go on, improv...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
sorry guys but the JBL will not do although it is very competitively priced when all the good things I read are true (no doubts) The thing is the gap between sofa and cupboard where the left speaker is standing is too narrow, maybe 30 cm, I do not think that the JBL would fit, although it is indeed ...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
Thanks Charlie for your opinion on the 140.
In principle I would prefer something clearly better than Ninka, something that can stay for 20 years while the rest of the system evolves. Which speaker are clearly better than Ninkas and easy in placement? Akubarik, Akudorik? Other brands?

Re: asking for upgrade advice
The thing is that I don't fully trust theoretical models. I believe it when I hear it. And: How passive and aktiv systems are executed is not clearly defined. There might be ways to do it that we haven't thought of yet. Sure I do love this quote. As far as I can tell, there is no way to measure sci...

Re: For Sale: Linn Klimax DS/2 renew (KRDSE)
Thank you for the correction. I cannot judge this, but maybe also different opinions can be arising from the piece to piece variations inside each series.
But yes, thanks a lot for the comment

Re: asking for upgrade advice
Hi Thomas, please do not take it wrong, I am far from knowing as much as you guys, but I cannot help to note that quantity and depth of the bass is not what matters most. Still my system is probably much easier to improve than yours, because it is starting from a much lower point. If no sub or one o...

Re: For Sale: Linn Klimax DS/2 renew (KRDSE)
Hi Sopper,
If the other guy does not come back to you, I am interested. I have been adviced the KRDS/2 is not clearlry better than the 1, but the chance to perform the direkt Exakt vs. non-Exakt comparison for myself is still interesting imho.
Best regards
Michael

because that sub is huge) yes I have seen the pictures.... ;-) Well I had the thinking back in my head since the start when I went for a comparatively cheap, small sub. Still the effect was bigger than I expected. Now I speculate, maybe a normal sub, mixing L+R channels, will get slightly off-phase...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
happy after holiday greetings, Now with some time, I thought I give some update on what happened in between. I do not change the thread title yet, as the journey continues. I had swapped the active C6100 (and Afekt subwoofer) for a Boazu integrated in between my Majik DS and the Ninkas. The result w...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
First of all, many thanks to al of you for honest and inspiring answers. It convinces me that, at least for an intermediate term, a KRDS makes sense for me (listening digital only and still being with the Majik DS) Given this We've tried different architectures. The initial idea was to separate ever...

Re: The New Lejonklou Streamer
Hi guys, I appreciate the ongoing format discussion as instructive, however I have another very basic question: Are there any news on the release of the streamer? Maybe I missed that. Next, apart from NAS, for my own purposes it will be a consideration if the unit can act as "soundcard" of a PC like...

Re: Optimizing your DS
Hi there, I use a Giso DS in both of my systems and found it to make a worthwhile improvement in both. As always it is recommended to test the device in your system first. Best regards sure. Where do you put it? Between the telephone socket in the wall and the router or between router and switch, b...

thank you
guys, probably it has been said before but in the end it seems simple: who do you prefer to listen to? a master musician on a bad instrument (bad sound but musical) or a lousy musician on a stradivari (great sound but not musical)? The answer is clear to everybody i guess. It is just suprising that ...

isolation
hi there, I have added a netgear switch between the DS and the NAS although I do not fully understand how it imrpoves and I do not have time and ears & patience to check all the tips and tricks. But I came along another device to provide galvanic isolation between telephone lines and DS. http://www....

update
hi there, in the meantime I have been wrting in the Boazu thread. Bottom line the Boazu is much more enjoyable than the C6100. Hard to accept if you were into active, but who cares to be right if you want to enjoy the music.... Finally today I also changed the DS to fixed volume (before was running ...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
after some time, I am back to report on my last short final test: swapping the Boazu (between the Majik DS and the passive Ninka) back for the C6100 three way active with Kikkin as volume control (respecting the inverted phase). I got used to the Boazu during the last weeks, although only playing a ...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
Would I be correct in assuming the Boazu is a brand new unit? If so, it wouldn't be run in, so won't be at it's potential. One attribute of any piece of equipment that's not run in, is less bass than what it's capable of. This isn't particular to the Boazu, but to all pieces of audio equipment. yes...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
Well thinking about it again, I think I just went a bit crazy the other day, over the top. I am still very happy with the Boazu, without Sub (I am not sure but when I tested it, I "switched" it on and off by removing the power cable, while the Kikkin was still on the DS parallel with Boazu. And also...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
many thanks to all for so much information. I understand the phase inversion now and how to solve it by swapping speaker cables. This means my Kikkin was running on the 6100 in the wrong phase. I also noted that in active, the ninkas treble and bass have opposite phases, while in passive they are th...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
a few more words... first of all thanks to Fredrik for bringing (what I feel to be) more and better music to my live. By now I am quite sure that I prefer listening to the Boazu than to the C6100. It is more fun. But still I am also afraid of deceiving myself, and I will defintively go back once to ...

Re: Lejonklou Boazu Integrated Amp
Dear all, I am the guy mentioned above by Ron and I can give you some impressions of the first 24 h with Boazu. Yesterday evening I converted the Ninkas back to passive and connected the Boazu ("Plopp") and started listening right away.... You could have guessed it. "Not smart. Bad idea. Such a loos...

Re: asking for upgrade advice
hi there, same thing today, a little while with the old, but improved system. It is definitively lots of fun and involving. Almost crying when singing along to my 3 months son "every little things gonna be alright" (Bob Marley). Well, do not blame/praise anything, just me being an emotional guy and ...
