Re: JBL 3677

Has someone tried to replace the damping material inside the 3677 with 100% natural wool felt? Yes both times I've owned them I replaced the pathetically thin lining with r11 or r13. What is r11 and r13? Thx Matt Hey Matt... it's insulation. It's what's used by most DIYers in the US. That and miner...

Re: JBL 3677

Well...on the other hand Komri went lower, but the 4645C is used in pro movie theatres. My favourite movie theatre in the town has 9 rooms with 4645C (and 3677), each with around 100 seats. The bigger rooms have two or three 4645's. So surely 4645 is good enough for home theater. Movie theaters are...

Re: JBL 3677

Hi All It seems from previous posts as if the sub of choice to be used with the 3677 is the 4645C. Is there a specific reason why the 4645C is the choice over the smaller brother 3635? I am considering changing over to the 3677 plus sub combo and is curious if the 3635 may be an alternative. For Ho...

This is also what's used in the similar design mentioned above the 4pi. Having built many speakers I was baffle...

Re: JBL 3677

http://www.pispeakers.com/Pi_Speakers_Info.pdf . Funny you should bring up Pi speakers. The 3677 is very similar to their 4Pi speaker and that is hands down their most popular speaker. Years ago, Wayne "the owner" and I have had lengthy discussions about the 3677. He actually used to use the CD in ...

Re: JBL 3677

A very good read indeed stuffed with interesting information (have read it several times). I absolutely agree that it sounds like a very good speaker listening to the clips on this forum. I only have one nagging question about this speaker: It was made to be placed inside a wall? How does this impa...

Re: JBL 3677

i, There is no way calculating the correct distance from back wall, you must listen for the best position. Same goes for toe in. I have found zero toe in to be the best in my room. Erik. That's actually not true. It's scientifically proven and basic acoustic science. As you move the speaker toward ...

Re: JBL 3677

Hi, it would be very nice to know what the 3677 owners here found to be the best distance between the back of the speakers and the wall. Many thanks. Matt I've owned the 3677 twice and own them currently. I've had extensive time with them. Distance from wall is based on SBIR. When using a sub say c...

Re: JBL 3677

I have my 3677's running since 20days and they sound great now, better than my 242mkI. Warning! they will sound very bad the first days. Stiff, no bass, no dynamics, high frequencies that destroy your ears. But give them HARD beating 24/7 and after 2weeks it's heavenly good. Guys, I have now 3677s ...

Re: JBL 3677

Yea the A model 8340A has a plastic enclosure. The older 8340 is wooden. I test my surrounds as mains for weeks before I'll use them as surrounds.. I'm really picky. The A model was very harsh. I tested it in two channel in hopes it would make a good front end for HT. It was one of the worst speaker...

I've owned the JBL 8330a and 8340a. I tested in two channel and both were worthy of being a boat anchor IMO. I couldn't sell them fast enough!

Re: JBL 3677

but I waited for break in first. Interesting! Please tell me more about the break in. When did you get them? How many hours/day are you playing? On soft or high volume? How many weeks did it take until they were good? Have they changed after that? http://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-speakers/1280211-j...

Re: JBL 3677

Why are you guys removing the crossover? This speaker takes weeks to break in. Any audible improvements would probably be due to break in and not moving the crossover. The way it's mounted the drivers should have no effect on it. Also every room is different so following someone else setup to the in...

Re: JBL 3677

Thanks, it's cool to see the JBLs have gone global..:). As for the floor placements, In that Ht the corner option is all I had. They are now in a baffle wall behind the screen http://www.avsforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=838858&d=1437392941 These are the QSC 2150s I just sold and now th...

Re: JBL 3677

Hey guys... I have been a long time 3677 fan. Here's my review from a few years back. I also had the QSC 2150 cinema speakers as well and just went back to 3677.
