new unidisk sotware firmware

hi all,

apparently there is new mech firmware and ess software for the uni 1.1 ie. ess 231. does anyone have this new firmware/software and if so what does it do to sound quality---i still have ess 221 since i feel this sounds the best but havent heard 231.

Hi Ron and welcome to the forum!

I have briefly commented the new firmware under "On the Inside". Haven't yet tried the laser mech, but the ESS alone was so bad that I didn't really want to go any further. A position I am of course willing to revise if someone else tells me the entire package really is an upgrade!

But unless someone says so, I won't spend any more time on this. My 1.1 is working perfectly, so I don't really need any bug fixes - all I want is better sound quality.

I will move your thread to On the Inside tomorrow, as it belong there.

I was hoping for a different result---thats too bad!!! I do wonder though if the laser mech update is needed for this to sound good!!!
