Kairn Pro.

Hi All, Maybe useful for a second system? Kairn pro dating from c1994, having been upgraded in 2003 to SMPS. Cosmetically quite fine. Includes the original remote. I like the "old" Linn sound it makes - the reason Im selling is to give some "tubes" a try. Ive been using it with Akurate DS, Solos and...

Hi Axel On the basis of what I have been reading here, I bought an N800 of ebay for £85. Updated the software immediately, and all is working very well. Its been in use for around 1 week now and saves me wandering around with the laptop!! Many thanks for all the work and effort you have put into thi...

Just thought it may be useful to add that; the transfer of warranty can be organised before payment is received. Hopefully this would give a degree of comfort to the buyer that the item and Serial Number is acknowldged by Linn as being genuine, and has been logged to the buyers name and address. Hop...

Frederik and all The original caps were difficult to identify as they had the Linn logo on them - as Im sure you know. A couple of years ago I had the boards on a klout renewed by Linn, and Im "fairly" sure they were Elna caps - but could definately be wrong! When I had 3 klouts active, all three ha...

Komri Just what the other guys are saying - that the "word" is its a good bit better. I "believe"(but am happy to be wrong) That it is a dealer upgrade not a return to factory. That it may just consist of dropping a new audio board in BUT, I cant rememebr if there are some mods to the power supply!!...

Cremona Im using Mogami 2972 - although its a bi wire cable. Im using it "single" wire between solos and shahinians. Having used it for about 1 month I do feel its an improvement on the K400 I was using. (the mogami is a round cable about 1cm in diameter. Only cost around £50 for 2 x 2m lenghths, pr...

Hi Markus I also asked the same question on the "pink Fish" forum, and it seems there are a few more trying to do this. One of the suggestions was the following:- http://whathifi.com/hi-fi/archive/20...no-preamp.aspx Seems a simple idea and not too expensive. I must admit Im finding it all a bit con...

Ripping Vinyl!!??

Hi All, Need a bit of help with this, and I have the suspicion this could be a dopy question!! LOL. Im busy ripping away my 600+ cd's to the NAS. As well as the cd's I have about 300ish LP's. Is there a way to rip them to the NAS as well? Im using a Kisto. Would the digital out give a suitable signa...

David Just to add my twopence worth. Ive owned all the pres mentioned over the years. IMO the kinos was quite a jump froward - interestingly I always think its one of linns fo...

Frederik Ive just been having the exact same discussion with a freind who is a Linn retailer. Why not sell directly to the customer, and not lose the 25/40 or 60% discount to the retailer?? Given that their accounts need to improve,( I assume, certainly recent years havent looked great) it seems the...

Maybe in a slightly less agressive way the Keltiks seem to illicit a similar response - from the "best" to the "worst" speaker Linn ever made! However, given such a range of variables its maybe understandable. Even at the dem I attended. The room was about 4 times the size of my listening room. Id n...

Hi Fredrik, You always ask the awkward questions! LOL. Ill try and elaborate but maybe not very well! So far, and it may well be Im just in the first flush of trying something very different. Hi All, Had the Obs for a couple of days. The choice was these or back to 242's. Not the last word in Bass but keeping the 2 Melodiks well backed off is working well. Certainly worth trying what Linn now seem to refer to as their " new metal faceplate treble for all loudspeakers" Isnt very expensive - stuck them in the Keltiks and thought it was better. Think they cost me about £35 each.

For fairly small cost its worth doing.

Hi Paul, Ill do my best to describe the differences, but one of the difficulties is that the "core" gear was different. If I start with Keltiks to 140's. The good thing being that my mate now has my previous Keltik set up, so before I got rid of the 140's I was fairly regularly hearing both. In term...

Hi John, Thanks for the response, and the promising reassurance! Ive had 242's in the past, and again had a recent extended listen at a dem evening.
