As for the newer albums being sold today, they can sound very nice and many of them sound much nicer than the older original albums from years past. I have albums weighing 125 grams, 180 grams and 200 grams from various record labels, and there hasn't been much difference between them in terms of so...

With the recent Sondek improvements, Linn might gain an even larger market share for turntables. More people are talking to me about turntables now days, and they are seriously thinking about Linn. However, most of these individuals can't purchase a completely loaded Sondek, but can certainly start ...

Thanks for sharing your experiences Lejonklou. Prior to purchasing the Radikal, I did experiment with the Linn Lingo outboard power supply. Basically, it sounded better on a shelf by itself, than sharing a shelf with another component. When isolation cones were used, the sound was not nearly as good...

Linn Isobarik
Using a set of passive Linn Isobarik speakers, from the ninties and still enjoy their performance. Ultimatley, it's the Sondek turntable that keeps me happy with the Isobariks. As I upgrade the turntable, the speakers continue to sound better. However, the power amplifier being used seems to be a gr...

Bi-wire or tri-wire
Yes you are correct, It was a two fold upgrade and a learning experience as well. Many good sounding speakers could sound even better with the crossovers mounted in their own enclosures. Although most companies consider that approach too expensive.

My entry to Linn audio started with a Basic turntable using a Basic Plus tonearm and K-9 moving magnet cartridge. On the back side was a pair of Linn Index speakers. After a family member damaged the tweeters, the dealer repaired both speakers and converted them to bi-wire mode. The passive crossove...

OUTLET REPLACEMENT
I did replace the standard wall outlet with a Hubbell IG8300 Isolated Ground Receptacle. There was an improvement, and it was an affordable upgrade. Several companies make these products at various price ranges, but the Hubbell works just fine for a lot less money.

Keel & Clones
Not long after Linn came out with the Keel, I saw clones from other companies being offered. At that point, I started looking into the actual differences between the Keel and clones. The clones don't have a built in tonearm collar, like the Keel. This will reduce the manufacturing cost to some exten...

Plinth
Just replaced my Afromosia plinth with a Movingui plinth, made by Chris. It is a very well made product, and the finish is essentially perfect. While it can be difficult to describe how a product sounds, the first area of sonic improvement was voices. Basically voices are more human sounding and lyr...
