Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Trying to factor in the bass more then probably not clip 2. I thought 3-5 sounded a bit speeded up but now they seem better. I dunno. Maybe clip four. I'm out of my league really.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

That was very difficult and I have low confidence in my choice - i.e., I could pick another one tomorrow and another the day after. I can't blame the gear either cos I'm on the MAC and using my most musical headphones (the old K24P). I did always struggle with the JBLs though, except that one clip y...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I find Track B (112) easier to follow but they both show off the strengths of a Lejonklou system very well.

Slightly eccentric guy but I quite like him.

Lot of audiophile speak but I still get the impression he enjoyed the Giella Pi's music making abilities.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I didn't like Air, by comparison to the other two.

Hard to be sure but think I liked Brassic a touch more than Brasso.

Katan Stands

I know it's going back a bit for many of you but any advise on the best stand for Katans. Kan 2 stands plus rubber feet on the speakers is very engaging but not the best sound. The speakers are too narrow to sit on all four spikes. Katan stands with the speakers on their spikes is a better sound but...

Re: Linn Factory Tour

On a loosely related note, I got some Katans this week. They are a late pair from 2007-ish and I'm a bit stunned how much better they are than speakers that followed, such as the M109 and mk2 212. They remind me of a couple of special upgrades, Arkiv B to Akiva and Ekos 2 to Ekos SE (when Keel was a...

Great description of my difficulties with it.

Hopefully you have unlocked something. Looking forward to seeing if it also settles Fredrik's misgivings.

On a side note, Kikkin is reverse phase like the old Kairn - in case you didn't know or had forgotten.

Yes, in some ways I prefer the old ones tbh. Always like the B110 though, including LS3/5As the couple of times I've heard them.

Re: Opinion LINN LINGO1 v, LINN LINGO 2,3

I owned the L1 and L2 for 2-3 years and found only a small difference between them in the grand scheme of things. The L1 had been serviced with Linn supplied components and the L2 was a very late one from 2006. I got the L2 serviced a couple of years later but think it was fine for most of that peri...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I’ve had both speakers in the past, and I’m surprised by the margin of my preference for the kans. Reminds me of the comparison I did between a modern Majik-i (with Dynamik) vs Wakonda/LK140. The modern Linn amp was nice but a bit boring somehow. I recall you preferred the LK amps that time too. I ...

Thanks for listening everyone.

Expected a few more 109 votes.

Agree with all comments really.

Need to see how I get on in the long term but they will most likely replace the 109s.
