Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

This has been a fun and fascinating comparison. So what were we listening to? With/Us: Bog standard Wiremold UL100BC (as used in the previous comparison) Without/Them: Another UL100BC with circuit breaker bypassed. Hi, I did a quick search but did not see anywhere what exactly your set-up is, can y...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

"Them", also for me in this match-up. "Us" sounded like I was listening to the radio, a very good one although, like a Kremlin or a NAT-01.

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

Ok, I went back and forth half a dozen times on these two, tough one. But if I had to choose I'd go with "Without" as "I" believe it flows better musically and hits the mark ever so slightly better than "With"which seems more full sounding. And a little crazy about that new Wiremold strip, have hear...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

No one was playing together... on 0. After playing 8 the tune & flow of the music made ... sense -to me. That's how I heard it too: I found 0 disjointed... not sure I'd call 8 'perfect' though, but definitely better than 0 -to me. (too) Right, should have said, ...Made perfect sense when judged in ...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

0: is a total mess. So 8: is the better one -for me- in this match up. Could you clarify what you mean by total mess in tune-dem parlance .It sounded really good to me.8 sounded more bland .So I'm going with 0 No one was playing together, was the band just warming up on the 0 take? ...I couldn't ma...

Re: Preamp discussions (split from "Headphone amp?")

Agreed. I’d like to think that was possible - otherwise Sagatun and Boazu would have a rotary volume knob wouldn’t they? IIRC, Fredrik mentioned that the multiple inputs of Boazu do sound inferior in comparison to only one input with no switching. Further, IMO, the Giella case seems to be too small...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

"X" musically flows better. For testing purposes are the plugs arraigned in the outlets the same -as best you can- from one strip to the other? ...Because this makes a difference too, I know in my system my Hi-cap transformer -for instance- will humm louder depending on where the plug is plugged int...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

Years ago Naim USA recommended a nine outlet power strip made by Wiremold. I assume it was well put together. I have one and use it for my home theatre setup. For my two channel setup I cut off the three plugs on my Exposure amps and wired them to one 20 amp plug. I have it plugged into a 20 amp de...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

I tried one of those NANA Revalations strips years ago with poor results, wiremold & SL Waber -no Breaker, no Switch type- strips were more musical. ...Interesting about these 5Buck Koppla units though, I'll order a few, can always use them round the house if they are not as good as the SL Wabers I'...

Open case, 2 screws.
Unplug and remove both cards completely.
Re-solder the cut loop-link together both sides.
Close up case, you're done.

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

I agree with you for me after 9.00AM (edit: meant 9.00PM)gets better - but I even find some days in the week it sounds better - I am not joking. I am worried about all the solar panels around have an influence too. IMO It's not what powers the grid that's the issue, it's what the grid powers. AC Mo...

Re: Cheap power strips for best sound.

Are there others here that believe that music listening sessions are best is late at night on early in the morning? Many years years ago I came to the conclusion that the AC line is purest at these times and my system sounds best. I'm a powerplant operator/engineer and there is no doubt that differe...

For Sale: Linn LP12 Rosewood, Ekos, Troika, Lingo.

Original owner, lovingly maintained LP12, purchased new in Sept, 1986. Comes with what you see in the pictures, everything is perfectly functioning, deck has been maintained over the years by the same Linn shop tech. Rosewood plinth, black bearing, Non-Cirkus, only flaw is a slight ding on top left ...

Re: Giella headphone amp

Great write-up! Now, if I only needed a headphone amp... Or a single input preamp ;) I -for one- would highly consider a single input type preamp built upon the Giella type electronics architecture but with the addition of a remote type volume control. I listen to one source, LP, & my gear is in an...

Here in the US I have always had best results with no switch, no reset/breaker type SL Waber strips now owned by Tripp light, I have not tried the Tripp Light version but it looks the same, these appear to be unchanged for like 30 years now: https://www.tripplite.com/waber-by-tripp-lite-5-outlet-ind...

True, but no remote, I'm looking for the Kikkin 3.0, not the 2.5.

Re: Kikkin 2.2. stopped playing (resolved)

Thank you guys! I get happy when I read your posts above. I had one Kikkin saved on my lab. Late serial number and latest version; 2.2. It was constantly powered up since the day it was built in late 2010 and the reason was that I wanted to check if any of its electronic components would drift or l...

I don't know about the cost, but you have a point. The product you're suggesting has in fact already been made. I called it Trikkin - A Kikkin with three stereo inputs and one stereo output. Trikkin wasn't released because I doubted it would sell. Today I could probably make it better, but I still ...

Re: Headphone amp?

I have this nagging question about System Matching: I’d like to ask if there would be any technical reasons an Entity and/or Sagatun would not work well with my now vintage -but lovingly maintained- 80's 90's Linn/Naim system? Things like in/out levels and impedances? If I could slot in a new Entity...

Re: Karousel

The Karousel just didn't work out for me in the end. It wasn't helped by lack of synergy with my late 80s/early 90s system but, even so, I don't think it was ever gonna be my cup of tea. PM me if anyone is interested in buying it. The deck has now been fitted with a black liner bearing and serviced...
