Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

Always best to find at least 1 beam and use Hangar or Lag bolts.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

(A) for me too, (B) grabs you for a second thinking it's clearer sounding until you quickly realize that it's way out of tune by comparison to (A).

Re: Wall Shelf For Linn LP12 Turntable With Trampolin?

The long now discontinued -from the 90's- Target TT-1 was also a very good wall shelf, you can only get them used now, I once used one for many years under my LP12's. These days the Target name has been bought/acquired by some Canadian outfit and they make compromised junk IMO -very poor welds, heav...

Congrats Frederic, looks as though your little Supperkikkin offers up serious value to performance potential for those -like me- that only have one or two source inputs.

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

Went back and forth a bunch of times on both 1A & 1B and there's something about the tune that bothers me a little on both, perhaps it's just the recording. But I feel the 1A is holding it all together just a touch better. Just did a little more back and forth on the 1A & 1B, so many preferring the...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

253 is more alive, crisp and in tune, I like it!

252 is kinda flat by comparison -seemingly slightly muffled- and the band isn't playing together as tight, overall less in tune.

Re: Linn 50th Anniversary

Thanks Tom. Could there be a way of fixing a new arm using the existing screw holes used by this new arm collar? Perhaps Linn would offer their 'special' 250 customers a special deal on a new arm. Better that than having to sell the Ekos SE and Keel in order to get a new super duper arm. From the p...

Re: Charlie1's System

I agree, at first listen the first clip started off great -really great- and then lost the tune when the band kicked in, second clip continues to hold it all together although with slightly less of that 80's glitter, give me the first clip sound with the overall tunefulness of the second..

Re: Is there a “best” test track?

Another that comes to mind for me just now -including Fast Car, classic track- is a song from Soul Coughing called Lazybones from their second studio album called Irresistible Bliss, 1996 that I sometimes listen to when I make a change, I was lucky to grab an original press back in the day. The inte...

I think it's very cool and an interesting choice to consider for those looking to use only 1 or two inputs. Hope it sticks around in your line-up for a while.

Perhaps ? But I don’t have the energy or the slightest interest in going down the rabbit hole of trying to convert other forum members by posting comparison videos or debating endlessly. . My initial post about fuses was not meant as a rebuttal against anyone else’s strongly beliefs in that regard....

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I can recall the founder of VIVA Audio, Amedeo, while setting up a complete system one of our dem rooms at the time would use wool pad sheets that he would cut to size on the fly -adding, stacking, twisting, removing again- on all the components after initial setup to fine tune the system to some pr...

The foam was about 1cm away from the end of the tube. Now flush and positioned back to ~23cm. 135cm apart as previous clip. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/y2dkjtm1a8e20gdpwoa9p/20230802_113711.mp4?rlkey=0ng2fjy4fyekb2e3uebvm2zk6&dl=0 Perhaps it’s partly due to the choice of music (rarely is though)...

Re: Charlie1's System

Same deal for me again, you get the feeling the band playing thru the 109's aren't really that motivated and not offering up their best performances, still dragging as you stated earlier, while the band playing thru the Tukans are much more together & in the moment musically. ...And congrats on tha...

Re: Charlie1's System

No doubt the 109's are bigger & fuller sounding overall but lumbering along as you stated "dragging" and ultimately they seem to lack the overall forward drive drive of the music as when that same track is played thru the Tukans. ...I would say the Tukans are technically more In Tune.

Good to read your thoughts gents! tpetsch, did you happen to notice any speed instability with the '02 deck (compared to the valhalla deck)? - just thinking about that Lingo service (which I will get done anyway) Just listened again and the speed issue thing I heard on that previous clip you're tal...

Re: Playground for practical listening exercises

I started with No. 1 and it sounded very nice, then No. 2 and so on down the line. But for me I could have stopped at No. 1 as it never got any better. More refined / Hi-Fi possibly but never more in tune / overall musical, effortless flow and emotional than No. 1. I found No. 4 to be the runner up ...

"a single 5" Bass driver in a Kaber -the other being a dedicated Mid- vs. 2x6" Mid/Bass units in a Keliidh." I think Kaber is 2.5 way, so both woofers are used for bass...but only one for mid. I think this is correct for the most part passive, not remembering how it was done in Aktiv config though....

I for one never cared for Kabers either passive or aktiv and we set up a few over the years, Keilidhs were always better. But maybe you can get them to work, look forward to your A/B's. Thanks tpetsch. Does that include the final tweeter version? Could you be more specific ref how they didn't work?...

Thanks beck! To further answer Tendaberry, I would like to try some late Kabers if I can find them at some point. Otherwise, not much else that interests me at the moment. A local Hifi friend is running in some Rega RX1s and they seem pretty good based on a couple of clips. I for one never cared fo...

$65,000 Interesting? ...OK, Seriously though, someone needs to explain to me how an LP12 can cost 65K?
